Privacy Policy
ChaffChing is built so that we cannot see your data. The app has no backend server, no user accounts, and no analytics. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and the limited cases where it leaves your device.
What we do not collect
- We do not operate any server that receives your data. ChaffChing has no backend.
- We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.
- We do not require an account, email address, or any personal information to use the app.
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. We never see it.
What the app stores, and where
Earnings and sales data
Commissions, sales, advertiser names, and related records that the app retrieves from your affiliate networks are stored in a local database on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, this database syncs to the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account so your Mac and iPhone stay in sync. Only your Apple ID can access that database; the developer cannot.
Network API credentials
API keys and tokens you enter to connect an affiliate network are stored in the system Keychain and, where enabled, synced across your devices by iCloud Keychain. They are never transmitted anywhere other than directly to the corresponding network's API.
Preferences
Settings such as theme, notification sound, and polling interval are stored locally on your device.
Network connections the app makes
- Affiliate network APIs. The app connects directly from your device to the APIs of the networks you choose to add (CJ, impact.com, Awin, Rakuten Advertising), using your credentials, to fetch your commission data. Those requests are governed by each network's own privacy policy.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Used solely to sync your data between your own devices, and to fetch occasional app announcements (such as release notes) from a public, read-only database. The app never writes anything about you to that public database.
- Apple App Store (StoreKit). Subscription purchases and entitlements are processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details and no personally identifying purchase information.
Notifications
Sale alerts are local notifications generated on your device. They are not sent through any third-party push service operated by us.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is yours to delete at any time:
- Remove a network in Settings to delete its credentials from your Keychain.
- Delete the app to remove all local data from the device.
- To remove synced data, delete ChaffChing data from iCloud in System Settings (Apple ID, iCloud, Manage Account Storage).
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, requests for access, correction, or deletion under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws can be fulfilled entirely on your own devices using the steps above. If you have any questions about this, email us and we will help.
Children
ChaffChing is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly handle any data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and note the change in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
